Plastic Surgery, No Longer Taboo

It’s not common for me to be listening to the television at 11 am on any given day of the week! I say listening because the television is on and my eyes are glued to the computer, typing away. It’s even more strange to be listening to morning television in Australia which is more like never ending advertising  for every weight loss program, beauty product, and household appliance available on this planet.  No wonder house wives are so desperate!

From pink mops to cosmetic surgery! I didn’t know I could now buy my mop in pink magenta. And as for cosmetic surgery it’s currently breast season! More people seem to get breast surgery in Australia than any other time!

So this led me to the question what type of cosmetic surgery are black women having?

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons the following were the top procedures for African Americans in 2010:

1. Liposuction

2. Nose Job (Rhinoplasty)

3. Breast Reduction

Once taboo, plastic surgery is on the rise amongst black women. The reason, more higher incomes.

Kelly Rowlands and Ciara are two black celebrities who’ve had breast implants.

My take on plastic surgery? It’s personal and the decision should be given more thought than your next outfit or what’s hot right now.
